Tory Lanez has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against prison authorities following a violent stabbing incident while incarcerated in California.
The rapper, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence linked to the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, was attacked in May 2025 at the California Correctional Institution.
According to reports, Lanez is suing the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, along with the prison warden and dozens of correctional officers, alleging negligence and failure to ensure his safety.
Court documents cited by media outlets claim Lanez suffered severe injuries, including multiple stab wounds, two collapsed lungs and permanent facial scarring.
He further alleges that prison officials violated protocol by housing him in proximity to inmate Santino Casio, who carried out the attack.
Lanez also claims there was an inadequate security presence at the time of the incident and that emergency response was delayed.
Beyond physical injuries, the rapper is seeking damages for emotional trauma, reputational harm and ongoing safety concerns.
In addition, he alleges that prison staff confiscated personal materials, including original songbooks containing unpublished lyrics, while he was recovering in hospital.
Lanez is seeking $100 million in damages, as well as additional compensation per injury, and the return of his creative work.
Casio, the inmate accused of the attack, was already serving a life sentence and had prior convictions related to violence within prison. Authorities placed him in restricted housing following the incident.
Lanez is now serving the remainder of his sentence at a different facility as legal proceedings unfold.
