D4vd has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a missing teenager’s remains in a vehicle linked to him.
Police said the 21-year-old artist, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, is being held without bail as investigations continue into the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Hernandez, who was reported missing in April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, was last seen after telling family members she was going to watch a movie. She was 13 at the time of her disappearance.
Authorities later identified her remains through forensic analysis after they were discovered in September inside a Tesla registered to Burke.
The vehicle had been located at a tow yard after staff reported a strong odour. Investigators reportedly found human remains inside, including body parts contained in bags, according to court documents.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Burke was arrested at his Hollywood Hills residence after officers executed a probable cause warrant.
Captain Scot M. Williams of the robbery-homicide division said authorities had been monitoring Burke during the investigation before moving to arrest him.
Despite the arrest, the cause of death has not yet been determined.
Burke’s legal team has denied the allegations, stating that their client is innocent and has not been formally charged.
They emphasised that no indictment or criminal complaint has been filed and said they would vigorously defend him.
At the time the remains were discovered, Burke had been on tour and later cancelled scheduled performances, with representatives stating he was cooperating with investigators.
The case remains under investigation.
