Rapper Gucci Mane has been condemned for his comments about the coronavirus, after he said he prayed for his critics to be struck down by the illness.

While most of the country is under quarantine to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic the rapper seemed to make light of the deadly disease in a tweet on Sunday morning.

The 40-year-old Big Booty hitmaker shared a message to Twitter that read: ‘I pray my haters die of corona virus.’

The post immediately caused a stir on Twitter, resulting in more than 2,000 comments on his tweet.

While it’s unclear how serious he was about the message, many people sounded off in the comments, especially with its timing on Easter Sunday.

“Man you need some online church services and a hug. This is the worst timed tweet ever. There are people actually mourning the loss of loved ones now, due to the virus. Bad movie big homie,” responded former UFC star Gerald Harris.

It appeared Gucci was keeping track of the replies to his post, as Gerald later revealed he’d been blocked by the rapper.

One Instagram user wrote: “This ain’t it big dog. This isn’t in alignment with your growth. You’re better than this.”

“It will infect the lovers too dude,” wrote another on Twitter.

Citing the rising death toll, another chimed in:

‘Not the ‘BEST’ thing to tweet at this moment in time whilst the world is going through the virus it’s self which is killing hundreds and thousands of people worldwide! [sic]’

Travis Scott, meanwhile, joked: “Happy Easter Gang.”

Mane has not yet responded to the backlash. His message comes as the worldwide death toll from coronavirus surpasses 100,000.

More than 112,000 people around the world have died due to coronavirus and there have been more than 1.8 million reported cases, as of Sunday.
