Ray J reportedly spent several days in hospital following his first-ever amateur MMA fight, sparking fresh concern about the singer’s health after a difficult year marked by multiple medical scares.
According to TMZ, the “Sexy Can I” hitmaker checked himself into hospital just hours after being knocked out by parody rapper Supa Hot Fire during a Brand Risk 14 amateur MMA event in Las Vegas on May 23.
Sources told the outlet that doctors kept Ray J under observation for several days while carrying out tests to determine whether he had suffered a concussion. Medical staff were also reportedly monitoring concerns related to an unusually slow heart rate.
The latest hospitalization comes just months after the reality television star revealed he had been battling serious health issues.
In January, Ray J was admitted to hospital with what was described as a severe case of pneumonia accompanied by heart pains. After his release, he shared a video on Instagram in which he claimed he had “almost died” and thanked fans for their prayers and support.
The singer also made alarming comments about his heart condition, saying it was operating at only 25 percent capacity.
“My heart’s only beating 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said at the time.
Days later, another video surfaced in which Ray J appeared to make even more troubling claims about his prognosis. Speaking to a friend, he suggested doctors had warned him about his future health, while also stating that the right side of his heart was “done.”
The entertainer attributed his health struggles to years of heavy drinking and substance abuse, admitting he had pushed his body beyond its limits.
Concern among fans intensified again in February when footage from a performance in Shreveport, Louisiana, appeared to show blood running down his face. During the concert, he also revealed a medical monitoring device attached to his chest.
Before taking the stage, Ray J posted a cryptic message on Facebook, writing: “I’m putting my life on the line for this show!!”
Despite the latest setback, there are signs the singer is recovering. While Ray J has not publicly addressed the recent hospital stay, he has since shared footage of himself performing on Instagram, suggesting he has been released and is back on his feet.
