Lizzo has firmly rejected claims that she has ever insulted or criticised fellow pop superstar Taylor Swift.

The 38-year-old performer addressed the issue after an interaction on X, formerly Twitter, involving comparisons between Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, and Lizzo’s 2025 mixtape releases.

The online exchange began when a user posted streaming figures comparing the two artists’ projects. The post referenced Swift’s album alongside Lizzo’s mixtapes ICEMAN, MAID OF HONOUR and HABIBTI.

Confused by the post, the “Truth Hurts” singer reshared it and asked followers for clarification, writing: “Can someone explain what this means?”

Another user replied by suggesting the figures reflected backlash over alleged comments Lizzo had supposedly made about Swift. The commenter claimed that “all that s*** talking” about Taylor had “finally caught up” with her.

Lizzo quickly dismissed the accusation, insisting she has never spoken badly about Swift or any other musician.

Responding directly on the platform, she wrote: “Are you well? First of all I have never talked s*** about Taylor Swift — also while we on the subject I’ve never talked s*** about any artist.”

She added that simply mentioning another artist’s name should not automatically be interpreted as criticism, urging social media users to “grow tf up”.

The singer has previously spoken openly about the emotional challenges she faced while working on new music. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lizzo explained that creating songs helped her cope with periods of depression and emotional exhaustion.

She said there were times during the making of her album Love in Real Life when she struggled to get through the day but still pushed herself to continue recording in the studio.

Lizzo also reflected on how cautious she once was about songwriting, revealing that she used to worry excessively about whether her lyrics might upset listeners.

Discussing an early version of her hit “Truth Hurts,” she explained that she even reconsidered certain lines out of concern for how audiences would interpret them.

According to the Grammy-winning artist, she now feels more comfortable expressing herself authentically without constantly second-guessing how people may react.
