Sean Combs is set to face a civil trial in 2027 after a federal court reportedly moved forward with a lawsuit filed by creative director Bryana Bongolan, who accused the music mogul of violently assaulting her at a Los Angeles apartment nearly a decade ago.
According to reports from AllHipHop, the case is currently scheduled for trial on May 3, 2027 in a federal court in Los Angeles.
The lawsuit names Combs, Bad Boy Entertainment and his corporate entity CeOpco LLC as defendants.
Bongolan, a close associate of Cassie Ventura, previously testified during Combs’ criminal proceedings and accused him of dangling her from a 17th-floor balcony at Ventura’s apartment in September 2016.
She alleges Combs held her over the edge for several seconds before throwing her back onto the balcony patio.
The lawsuit claims the alleged incident left her with bruising, neck and back injuries, as well as long-term emotional trauma.
During testimony in Combs’ federal criminal trial, Bongolan reportedly told the court she still suffers nightmares linked to the alleged assault.
Before giving evidence, she invoked her Fifth Amendment rights before later receiving immunity to testify.
Combs’ legal team challenged her credibility during the proceedings, alleging she had been under the influence of drugs during the incident — claims she denied.
The upcoming trial adds to a growing list of legal troubles facing the Bad Boy Records founder, who remains in prison after being convicted last year on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
A jury acquitted Combs of more serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
He was later sentenced to 50 months in federal prison.
The conviction stemmed from allegations that Combs organised and facilitated drug-fuelled sexual encounters known as “Freak Offs,” involving women and male escorts transported across state lines.
Combs has denied various allegations made against him and is also appealing aspects of his criminal conviction.
In addition to Bongolan’s lawsuit, he continues to face multiple civil claims accusing him of sexual assault, abuse and misconduct spanning several decades.
Among them is a separate lawsuit filed by former escort Clayton Howard, who is seeking US$20 million over allegations involving Combs and Ventura.
The wave of civil litigation intensified after Cassie Ventura filed a highly publicised lawsuit in 2023 accusing Combs of years of abuse. That case was settled within a day, although it triggered a broader flood of allegations against the hip-hop executive.
