R. Kelly accused of owing $3.8 million in back taxes, Uncle Sam wants to collect

Jailed singer R. Kelly is reported to be owing more than $3.8million in back taxes and according to RadarOnline.com the singer who is currently being held in a correctional service facility in New York while he awaits trial for various sex offences, has had a federal lien filed against him in Illinois.

The publication states that R.Kelly has refused to pay $1,935,034.88 owed on his bill for 2008.

That’s on top of a separate lien filed by the IRS in 2019 over $1.8 million on two previous tax bills($648,998.25 for 2013 and another $1.229.73.18 for 2016) which is still active and unpaid.

The total amount owed by the ‘I believe I can Fly’ hitmaker amounts to $3,813772.13.

He is currently waiting for his trial on sex trafficking and racketeering which is due next month but he was recently hit by problems after three of his lawyers withdrew from his legal team.

The 54-year old singer has so far had two court cases delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with his Illinois trial due to begin on 13 September.
