A law firm that helped defend Sean “Diddy” Combs against his most serious federal charges has reportedly been hired by one of the former Cornell University fraternity members accused in the Jane Doe case.

Agnifilo Intrater LLP has joined the defence team representing one of the men named in the civil lawsuit, according to TMZ.

The individual being represented by the firm has not been publicly identified in the latest report.

Diddy lawyer takes Cornell case

Teny Geragos, a founding partner at Agnifilo Intrater, is reportedly handling the case.

Geragos was part of Diddy’s legal team during his high-profile federal trial. The music mogul was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges but convicted on two prostitution-related counts.

She has also represented disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein and specialises in cases involving sexual misconduct allegations.

Geragos will reportedly focus on statements Jane Doe gave during the initial investigation in 2024, which the defence says described the sexual activity as consensual.

Initial account becomes key defence issue

Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten previously said Jane Doe’s original sworn statement did not allege that she had been drugged against her will or gang-raped.

According to Van Houten, the statement described her participation in drug use and sexual activity as voluntary, conscious and consensual.

However, Jane Doe alleges in her civil lawsuit that seven members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity drugged and sexually assaulted her at the fraternity house in October 2024.

Her lawyers have argued that trauma can affect how victims initially understand and describe an alleged assault.

No criminal charges were filed following the original investigation. All the accused men are entitled to the presumption of innocence, and the allegations have not been established in court.

Investigation placed under attorney general

The case returned to national attention after Jane Doe filed her civil lawsuit in September 2026 against seven former fraternity members, Cornell University, Chi Phi and other organisations.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul subsequently appointed Attorney General Letitia James to oversee a renewed criminal investigation amid criticism of how the original case was handled.

Cornell conducted its own disciplinary investigation and imposed sanctions on several students. The Chi Phi chapter was suspended before being permanently closed.

Some of the accused men have publicly denied wrongdoing and maintain that the sexual activity was consensual.

Jane Doe’s lawyers dispute that account and allege she was too intoxicated and impaired to provide consent.

The appointment of Agnifilo Intrater brings another prominent legal team into a case that has already attracted nationwide attention, protests and demands for greater accountability from Cornell and law enforcement.
