After meetings with Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, the family of slain 26 year old Breonna Taylor says it expects charges to be levelled against police officers who took her life.

Cameron had met with Taylor’s family “to personally express his condolences,” according to a press release. The AG also wanted to gain a better understanding of who the 26-year-old had been, while authorities wait for ballistic evidence from federal officials.

Cameron has been under increasing pressure to charge the officers involved in the shooting, five months after Taylor was fatally shot by the police.

“Every day is still March the 13th,” said Breonna’s mother Tamika Palmer after the meeting “At this point, it’s bigger than Breonna. It’s bigger than black lives.

“It’s about bridging the gaps between police and communities. I’m grateful to everyone saying her name. We need to figure out how to fix the city and heal from here.”

High-profile attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Taylor’s family, said he was hopeful charges would be brought against the offending officers after the meeting.

“We challenged him to make sure he is courageous and responsible in trying to lead this city out of this tragedy,” Crump said.

Jon Mattingly, Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankison were the three LMPD officers who fired their weapons the night of the raid.

They were placed on administrative reassignment, which is LMPD protocol following such incidents. Since Taylor’s death, LMPD Chief Steve Conrad has been fired, as was Hankison.
