Ahead of his double murder trial, 20-year-old rapper, YNW Melly is begging to be released from prison in Florida as he claims that he is dying following his testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

A lawyer for the rapper has filed legal documents claiming that his client is suffering from symptoms that include severe chills, heavy labored breathing, headaches, and body aches.

Bradford Cohen, representing Melly, says his client weighs 114 pounds and has not been monitored by medical personnel as they have been mandated to.

He also alleges that the rapper is sharing a cell with another inmate who has coronavirus and there’s fear ‘if the virus can be mutated or passed reoccurring between individuals.’

Cohen claims the there’s a lack of preparedness by the jail for this type of epidemic … as;

“they have not given them masks, or cleaning supplies that would be beneficial regarding his recovery. This is against all recommendations of the Surgeon General and CDC.”

Last week the rapper revealed he had tested positive for the coronavirus. According to a statement on the Instagram page, he was seeking an early release.

‘Melly has tested positive for COVID-19 today while awaiting his trial in Broward County Jail,’ the statement read.

‘He’ll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus,” it read.

YNW Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, has been sitting in a Florida jail for more than a year after being arrested and charged in the double murder of two of his friends.

Last week Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from prison early after the asthmatic rapper expressed fears over the coronavirus pandemic.

The controversial rapper had served 17 months of a two-year sentence after pleading guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, multiple firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking.

He was released on compassionate grounds after his lawyers put forward the argument that he was vulnerable to the Covid-19 virus as he is an asthma sufferer.
