Controversial US rapper Dababy has issued an apology after a video emerged of him slapping a female fan before his after-party concert in Florida on Saturday.
In the video seen by Daily Mast, Dababy reacted angrily after the female held her mobile phone with the flash on – close to the rapper’s face, as he walked through the crowd.
He is seen in the footage hitting the lady in the face before walking away. The crowd reacted angrily and boed the rapper who apparently left the venue without performing.
DaBaby took to instagram and wrote; “Who know shawty government name so my lawyer can get active?” he wrote on top of a screenshot from the assault video.
“I do sincerely apologize. I do,” DaBaby said. “I’m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone.
“But you know, keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you got the flash this close to me. Which is okay, it’s no problem. A lot of people did — they didn’t put it as close as you put it — but a lot of people had flash on me, and that’s okay. That’s what I signed up for.”
“But out of all them fans—how many people know how to zoom in? Just zoom in instead of popping me in the motherfucking eye with the phone.
“But I do apologize that there was a female on the other end. I think by this time, you know it’s a well known fact that male or female, I would’ve responded the same exact way.”
“I would love to apologize to you in person… I would love to make the situation better anyway I can.”
According to celebrity news site, TMZ, the woman has already contacted personal injury law firm Morgan & Morgan and is certainly going to be claiming compensation.
The rapper has certainly had a controversial 2020. In January he was arrested on robbery charges in Miami, which triggered an arrest warrant in Texas relating to battery charges stemming from a fight DaBaby at The Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
It was claimed the rapper and a friend attacked an employee working a food stand. According to the police report DaBaby allegedly robbed the victim of $80, a credit card, and then doused him with apple juice.
