Hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross has officially announced his long-awaited return to the album scene, revealing that his new project, Set in Stone, will arrive on July 17.
The upcoming release marks Ross’ first full-length album in five years and signals a new chapter for the Miami rap mogul, who has spent recent years focusing on business ventures, touring and high-profile collaborations.
The MMG founder unveiled the release date on Thursday, confirming that Set in Stone will be distributed through Gamma.
Ross has already begun building momentum for the project with the release of “Minks in Miami,” a collaboration featuring fellow rap stars French Montana and Max B. Fans won’t have to wait long for another preview, as a second single titled “Mahogany Caskets” featuring T.I. is scheduled for release on Friday.
The latest collaboration reunites Ross and T.I., who have a long history together in hip-hop. The pair previously joined forces on tracks including “Pledge Allegiance” from T.I.’s 2010 album No Mercy and appeared together on DJ Khaled’s hit anthem “We Takin’ Over.”
That classic record recently found itself back in the spotlight after actor Timothée Chalamet described its music video as the greatest of all time during a recent interview.
Set in Stone serves as the follow-up to Ross’ 2021 album Richer Than I Ever Been, which debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The announcement comes as Ross celebrates a major milestone in his career. The rapper is currently travelling across North America on his Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Black-Tie Experience Orchestra Tour, commemorating the album that launched him into rap superstardom.
The unique tour reimagines Ross’ classic catalogue with orchestral arrangements and a choir, delivering a luxury concert experience inspired by the lavish lifestyle that has become synonymous with the rapper’s brand.
Reflecting on the significance of the anniversary, Ross described his debut album as the foundation of everything he has built.
“Port of Miami was the foundation of an empire, the blueprint to the biggest boss,” Ross said when announcing the tour.
“Twenty years later, we aren’t just celebrating an album — we are elevating the culture. Bringing this music to the stage with a full orchestra and choir in a black-tie setting is about cementing the legacy.”
Released in August 2006, Port of Miami debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold 187,000 units in its first week, instantly establishing Ross as one of rap’s biggest stars.
Now, nearly two decades after that breakthrough moment, Ross is preparing to add another chapter to his catalogue with an album he hopes will remind fans why he remains one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.
