British Formula One star Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes and join Ferrari for the 2025 season, a sensational move that will see him partner Charles Leclerc.

According to multiple reports the Mercedes factory are to be briefed by Chief Executive of the team, Toto Wolff, ahead of a formal announcement later today.

Hamilton, who has won a joint-record seven world championships, has been with Mercedes since he signed with them in 2013. Before that, the 39-year-old raced for McLaren.

Only last year Hamilton seemed to have quelled rumours of a move to the Scuderia by extending his contract with Mercedes until the end of the 2025 season.

Ferrari chairman John Elkann is said to be a keen admirer of Hamilton and has been negotiating the deal that will see Hamilton partner Leclerc while Carlos Sainz leaves the team.

Ferrari recently announced a long-term contract extension for Leclerc, but Sainz’s future remains in doubt, with his deal expiring after the 2024 campaign.
