Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has been threatened with a boycott by some fans after she released a diss song in which she took aim at Megan the Stallion’s late mother and seemingly made fun of her shooting at the hands of Tory Lanez.
Nicki and Megan have been embroiled in a feud since Megan released a single titled Hiss on January 26. Some lyrics in the song were rumoured to be directed at Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender.
After taking exception to some of the lyrics, Minaj went on a social media tirade before releasing the diss track.
On January 29, Minaj released “Big Foot,” a rumored response to Megan’s alleged diss. In the track, the 41-year-old says to “get up on your good foot.”
Megan was shot in the foot by ex-boyfriend Tory Lanez in 2020, with the 31-year-old currently serving a 10-year sentence over the incident.
Minaj also appeared to aim some lyrics at Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, who died from brain cancer in 2019.
“H**, the things that you’ve lied about, even pertaining to your mom—you don’t want them out, OK?” she raps in the track, claiming she’s “very serious.”
After the release of the song, security around Megan’s mother’s grave was reportedly reinforced, as fears mounted that the grave might be tempered with after Minaj’s fans leaked its location.
On X, some fans took exception to the personal nature of Minaj’s diss track.
“So are we all agreeing to boycott Nicki and never listen to anything she puts out ever again??? Ok cool,” said one user while another posted, “Y’all need to boycott Nicki …,” agreed dèor.
“Talking about another’s dead loss cause your choice of marriage is a predator is not acceptable!”
