Pop star Britney Spears is reportedly hiring her own lawyers in a bid to end her conservatorship after her court appointed lawyers called it quits last week.
Britney recently called for her conservatorship to be scrapped and requested lawyer and former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart to help her win the battle.
TMZ reports that Britney has signed a document which states: ‘Pursuant to my statement in open court on June 23, 2021, my rights, and my desire to end the above referenced conservatorship as to my father Jamie P. Spears, it is my desire to choose and retain my own counsel, at Greenbag, Trauring, LLP as set forth above.”
According to the news outlet, the firm agrees to represent Britney and their first order of business will be making sure that they file court documents requesting to remove her father Jamie Spears as a conservator of her estate.
This comes after Spears’ co-conservators Bessemer Trust, manager Larry Rudolph and court-appointed lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III resigned from their roles.
This after the singer opened up in court saying she was being abused under the conservatorship which was placed on her in 2008 after her public mental breakdown.
Sources said Britney is currently in high spirits and is hopeful about the future.
“She’s finally feeling hopeful about the future. She thinks people are resigning because they know she is speaking the truth.
“She is relieved her attorney resigned and hopes that if she can pick her own lawyer, it means the judge is leaning towards terminating the conservatorship,” said an insider.
Her attorney, Samuel has been representing Britney since 2008.
