The much anticipated Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole has been postponed after Ashanti tested positive for the coronavirus.

The ‘Rock wit U’ hitmaker announced news of her latest diagnosis via her social media platforms letting her legion of fans know that she was ‘Ok and not in any pain.’

Posting on her instagram she said, “Hey y’all I cant believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for Covid-19. I’m Ok and not in any pain, (sic)”

She also confirmed that with her new health scare she will have to postpone her appearance on “Verzuz”, the webcast series that sees stars compete in a virtual DJ battle.

She highlighted that she might just do the battle from the comfort of her home but nothing solid as yet.

Her Instagram post continued: “I’m actually down to do the Verzuz from my house…we’re trying to figure it all out!!! (sic)”

Ashanti was set to battle it out with Keyshia Cole. The two singers were set to take the Verzuz stage for an in-person battle showcasing their musical prowess until Ashanti announced her diagnosis hours before her scheduled appearance.

She announced her results on Instagram three hours before her set performance, expressing disbelief. She explained: “I’m super bummed. I’m still ready to do it tonight. Me and Team Apple have been on the phone since like late last night, early this morning trying to figure out how to do it.

“And I’m super ready, but we don’t think the technical aspect of things is going to be perfect.

“This is crazy, not in a million years did I think I would test positive. I am so mad because I was so ready. The momentum of ‘Verzuz’ has been so incredible.”

The battle which was supposed to take place on Saturday 12 December will now have to take place on January 9.
