On a year in which they were supposed to be celebrating their silver jubilee as a couple, Kimberli Russell has filed for divorce from former NBA star, husband Byron Russell, after 25 years of marriage.

Kimberli starred on VH1’s Basketball Wives, where the couple had their anniversaries revisited.

The two have three children.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Kimberlie filed to end the couple’s lengthy marriage on August 24, 2020, in Los Angeles County Court.

Byron is famous for being Michael Jordan’s famed “last shot” after being the victim of Jordan’s legendary last basket with the Chicago Bulls.

Byron was 45th overall selection in the 1993 NBA draft, rising from those humble beginnings he became a key contributor for those great Jazz teams of the 1990s.

In the 1996-1997 season, the first year Utah met Chicago in the NBA Finals, Russell started 81 games and averaged 10.8 points per game, despite being considered the fourth option behind Karl Malone, John Stockton, and sharpshooter Jeff Hornacek.

He went on to do even better in the Finals, putting up 11.3 points per night, despite having to deal with the irresistible Jordan on the defensive end.
