Former Disney star Mary-Kate Olsen (33) has filed for divorce from her husband of almost five years, French-born banker Olivier Sarkozy (50). The filing was however rejected after a judge ruled that the matter was not urgent enough.

This is despite Olsen filing for divorce earlier in the week from Sarkozy, claiming that her husband was about to kick her from their apartment, giving her until only Monday until she found a place amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

“This application is an emergency because my husband expects me to move out of our home on Monday, May 18, 2020 in the middle of New York City being on pause due to COVID-19,” Olsen’s case said.

“I am petrified that my husband is trying to deprive me of the home we have lived in and if he is successful, I will not only lose my home but I risk losing my personal property as well,” she submitted in her papers.

A spokesperson for the New York court system is however quoted telling CNN that Olsen’s emergency divorce filing earlier this week was denied by a State Supreme Court Judge because the divorce is considered “not essential” due to the coronavirus.

“Only essential/emergency matters are allowed to be filed,” said Lucian Chalfen of the New York Supreme Court. “The original filing was rejected by the New York County (Manhattan) clerk because they did not follow the essential matter procedure.

“They refiled under the essential matter procedure, and the matter was referred to an ex parte State Supreme Court Judge. He just decided that it is not essential, so they can’t file anything at this point.”

Olsen, a designer, and Sarkozy, a French-born banker, raised eyebrows when they were first linked in 2012 because of their 16-year age difference.

He is the half-brother of Nicolas Sarkozy, the former President of France. Olsen, is the other half of the Olsen twins from TV’s “Full House”. Daily Mast
