Idris Elba’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, also tests positive for coronavirus, tells Oprah why she stayed with him

Days after actor Idris Elba revealed he had the coronavirus (COVID-19), his wife Sabrina Dhowre now says she too has tested positive for the deadly virus.

The couple explained their decision to stay together in an interview with Oprah Winfrey through FaceTime for an episode of “Oprah Talks: COVID-19” on Apple TV.

“I could have made the decision to put myself, maybe, in a separate room or stay away, and I’m sure that people are making those decisions.

“And they’re tough decisions to make,” Sabrina Elba said. “But I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him.”

“I wanted to be with him. That’s the instinct of a wife. You want to go and take care.”

Elba joined the interview and explained that the couple had been together on the day he probably got exposed to the person who tested positive.

Elba said he Dhowre had been together until he left to begin filming a movie.

“If I had caught it, she had certainly caught it in that time period, as well. People were right to have highlighted that spatial distancing is important.

“I think given the context of the video, which was telling the world what has happened to us, we weren’t thinking about that specifically.”

Dhowre Elba meanwhile says she feels fine, “I don’t feel anything that would come to what people would now expect to be a symptom of coronavirus, which is really strange.”

“It might change in the coming weeks, and we’ll keep everyone updated,” she said. “But it is worrisome that we’re sitting here, two people, and … we’re asymptomatic.”
