Sin City actress Jaime King and Austin Sosa officially divorced after ‘blindsided’ split

Jaime King and Austin Sosa are officially divorced after a Los Angeles judge signed off on the dissolution of their short-lived marriage.

Court documents show that a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge entered the final judgment on Friday, restoring both King and Sosa to the legal status of single people.

The former couple secretly married on April 23, 2025, and separated later that year. Sosa filed for divorce in January 2026, less than a year after their wedding.

The 46-year-old Sin City actress later said she had been “completely blindsided” by the filing because she believed they were still trying to repair their relationship.

Spousal support remains partially unresolved

Although their marriage has formally ended, the judgment leaves one financial matter unresolved.

Sosa has reserved his right to seek spousal support from King. However, the court terminated King’s right to receive spousal support from Sosa.

The former couple had no children together and reportedly did not have any shared assets or debts requiring division by the court.

Those circumstances allowed the marriage to be dissolved through an uncontested process.

Sosa sought default divorce judgment

Sosa moved to accelerate the proceedings in June by filing a declaration requesting a default or uncontested dissolution.

A default judgment can be entered when one spouse does not formally participate in the case or when the parties have no contested matters preventing the marriage from being legally terminated.

Sosa listed November 11, 2025, as the couple’s date of separation and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakdown of the marriage.

King says filing ‘came out of nowhere’

King addressed the separation shortly after Sosa filed for divorce on January 22.

“I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” she said in a statement.

“I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while, like many marriages, we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”

King added that her priority remained her work and her children and asked the public to respect her privacy.

“This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions — particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinise women for simply doing their jobs,” she said.

At the time, reports had linked King to hotelier Vikram Chatwal after they were seen together in Los Angeles.

The actress denied that the meetings had anything to do with the end of her marriage, describing their interactions as strictly professional.

Marriage was kept private

King and Sosa kept much of their relationship out of the public eye after meeting through mutual friends.

Their engagement became public in July 2025 after King was photographed wearing a diamond ring.

Her representative confirmed the engagement and said the actress was happy to share the milestone with her two sons, who reportedly had a close relationship with Sosa and his family.

The public was not aware that King and Sosa had married until their divorce proceedings revealed the secret wedding.

King was previously married to filmmaker Kyle Newman from 2007 until their divorce was finalised in 2023.

The former couple share two sons, James and Leo.

King filed for divorce from Newman in May 2020 following 13 years of marriage. Their separation developed into a lengthy and contentious divorce and custody dispute.

Her marriage to Sosa was considerably shorter, ending less than two years after their private wedding and only months after their engagement had been publicly announced.

Neither King nor Sosa has publicly commented on the final divorce judgment.
