Cardi B turned heads at the NBA Finals after appearing courtside with a luxury Chanel handbag despite strict security measures that reportedly included a no-bag policy due to President Donald Trump’s planned attendance.
The rapper and singer was among a long list of celebrities at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, but it was her fashion choice that quickly sparked conversation online.
Cardi B later shared photos of her estimated $7,000 Chanel purse on Instagram while seated in celebrity row, even as many fans and guests were reportedly required to comply with enhanced security restrictions.
Her appearance came as Madison Square Garden transformed into a celebrity-packed fashion showcase, with stars treating the NBA Finals almost like a runway event.
Among the night’s standout looks was longtime Knicks supporter Spike Lee, who wore a New York Knicks jersey signed by Pope Leo. Jay-Z also attracted attention in a designer Bode jacket valued at more than $1,000.
Actor Timothée Chalamet, another devoted Knicks fan, arrived dressed head-to-toe in bright orange Knicks-inspired fashion, completing the look with Timberland boots.
Meanwhile, Jordyn Woods, fiancée of Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, was unable to bring her signature custom handbag due to the reported restrictions. Instead, she found a creative workaround by transforming the design into a pair of custom heels and pairing them with a top made from vintage Knicks jerseys and T-shirts.
The star-studded crowd also included DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Derek Jeter, John McEnroe, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni.
Fashion designer Danielle Becker, whose work has been worn by members of the Knicks family, said the team’s playoff run has transformed celebrity row into one of New York City’s most talked-about fashion stages.
“The celebrity fashion is partly the reason so many people, including people who aren’t necessarily sports fans, are watching the Knicks right now,” Becker said.
With the Knicks making a deep playoff push and celebrities continuing to arrive in eye-catching outfits, courtside fashion has become almost as big a talking point as the action on the court.
As anticipation builds for the next game, all eyes will once again be on Madison Square Garden — both for the basketball and the fashion statements.
