Rihanna posts a tribute to her grandmother Clara Brathwaite eight years after her passing
Singer Rihanna has paid tribute to her grandmother, Clara Braithwaite, posting a black and white picture recognising the lapse of the eighth year since her passing.
The Fenty Beauty boss’ grandmother succumbed to cancer in 2012.
“8 years. we miss you more each year, and Bravo still talks about how you guys met every time I see him. #GranGranDolly #Clara ❤️,” she captioned her Instagram.
Her grandmother’s death spurred the singer and business mogul to establish a charity initiative, the Clara Lionel Foundation, as a tribute to both her grandparents.
CLF currently runs educational programs in Malawi, Barbados and Senegal, emergency response programs in the Caribbean and around the globe, and has the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program.
The foundation has been very active recently, donating $5 million to help provide protective equipment for health workers and diagnostic labs, help establish and maintain intensive care units, and accelerate the development of vaccines and other therapies at the upsurge of Covid-19 back in March.
Recently she teamed up with Twitter’s Jack Dorsey to come up with $15 million for mental health services. Daily Mast
