After a year in which she finally separated from her husband offset, rapper Cardi B says she lost herself as she battled anxiety during a tough year.

In December, Cardi revealed that she and Offset had broken up again after six years of marriage.

However, to illustrate the on again off again nature of their relationship, a fortnight later, the couple spent Christmas together with their two children, Kulture and Wave, sparking rumors that they had reunited.

Then, just a few days later – after they rang in the New Year in Miami together – Cardi denied that they were back together. The couple then went on to spend Valentine’s Day as a couple while Cardi admitted that they had slept together.

In an interview with Complex, Cardi revealed that she stopped being herself sometime during 2023, as she battled with anxiety.

“I lost myself,” she said, “People were saying that I was scared to drop an album.”

“I was afraid to do everything,” she revealed.

Cardi said she was smothered by her fear, which extended from live performances to things that she chose to post online. However, she made it clear that she was opening a new page in her life, free from her fears.

“I am not letting anxiety, haters, or fans stop me,” she declared.
