Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp allegedly instigated a campaign to make sure ex-wife Amber Heard was “drowned with online attacks” during their domestic abuse showdown in the London High Court.

In a new legal filing made in the US, Heard’s representatives claim Depp cultivated a farm of trolls seeking to undermine her while inflating his worth to Hollywood.

“Mr Depp is attempting to defame Ms Heard and interfere with her reputation, career and livelihood through an online smear campaign he has organised and orchestrated.

“As part of his ongoing smear campaign, Mr Depp has directed both authentic and inauthentic social media accounts and ‘bots’ to target Ms Heard’s Twitter account and attempt to interfere with her contracts and business.”

The suit also claimed that Depp’s online campaign also attempted to boost the profile of Depp’s attorney, Adam Waldman.

“As part of his ongoing smear campaign, Mr Depp has directed both authentic and inauthentic social media accounts and ‘bots’ to target Ms Heard’s Twitter account and attempt to interfere with her contracts and business.”

“Many of these accounts smear and harass Ms Heard while simultaneously promoting and praising Mr Depp’s attorney, Adam Waldman. Mr Waldman is publicly associated with Russian individuals with the capability to organise such attacks.”

Due to the nasty and intense legal battles between him and his ex, Depp’s Hollywood career has seen considerable damage. He was removed from his Captain Jack Sparrow role by Disney while his movie, ‘City of Lies’, was also put on hold by Miramax.
