Children’s charity, No Kid Hungry, has rejected a $200 000 donation from controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, saying it does not accept money from donors whose activities are not in line with its values.

Tekashi, real name Daniel Hernandez, made the generous offer after acknowledging that children would be hard hit by current coronavirus lockdowns.

“During this pandemic I understand we have nurses and frontline Hero’s who risk their life daily to save others,” he wrote recently on Instagram.

“But NEVER forget the children & families who depend on OUR PUBLIC schools for daily meals and nutritions to keep our future leaders growing to their best potential.

“To every influencer out there REMEMBER if you are blessed GOD gave you that blessing not just for YOU but also TO HELP OTHERS ???????? GOD FIRST.”

However a spokesperson for No Kid Hungry said the organization had declined the rapper’s donation as his activities did not align with the organization’s values.

“We are grateful for Mr. Hernandez’s generous offer to donate to No Kid Hungry but we have informed his representatives that we have declined this donation,” the spokesperson says.

“As a child-focused campaign, it is our policy to decline funding from donors whose activities do not align with our mission and values,” he said.

The rapper was sentenced in December after testifying against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang. The deal earned him leniency from charges that could have subjected him to a mandatory minimum 37 years in prison for crimes that included orchestrating a shooting in which an innocent bystander was wounded.

He got an early release because he suffers from asthma, a condition that would have made him particularly susceptible to the highly contagious Covid-19. Daily Mast
