Relations might be frosty between them but that still has not prevented Kanye West from showing love to one-time music collaborator Jay-Z, with the Yeezy founder stating he misses his fellow billionaire rapper on Twitter.
Instead of the vitriol that fans had become used to from the rapper’s page, Tuesday night provided a surprising change as a mellowed out West, commented on a fan video of himself and the Roc Nation founder performing at the 2011 VMAs, acknowledged his longing for his company.
“Miss my bro … real talk,” he said quoting the fan’s tweet.
In a similar vein, the rapper also paid homage to his mother-in-law Kris Jenner, saying : “My mother in law Kris Jenner … makes the best music playlist.”
The tweet was uncharacteristically gentle from the rapper, who has taken aim at his wife’s mother recently, christening Kris Jong-Un while accusing her of exploiting her daughter’s sex tape.
While it is unclear what the source of conflict between the rapper and his mother-in-law is, the feud with the Watch The Throne rapper has been long running.
While they shared a particularly fruitful relationship in the past, it came to a halt after Kanye made a series of unsavoury comments about Jay Z and his wife Beyonce during a tour show in 2016.
For his part, Jay Z, 50, addressed their feud in an interview with the New York Times’ T Magazine.
“I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he’s my brother. I love Kanye. I do.
‘It’s a complicated relationship with us. Kanye came into this business on my label. So I’ve always been like his big brother. And we’re both entertainers.
‘It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother. And we both love and respect each other’s art, too. So it’s like, we both — everyone wants to be the greatest in the world. You know what I’m saying?”
Kanye expressed how it hurt him when the Carters did not attend his wedding.
“I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding. I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding.”
