An autopsy has revealed that WWE superstar Shad Gaspard spent his last few breaths heroically trying to save his son, who he handed off to lifeguards before being swallowed by the waves at Venice Beach.

The autopsy declared Gaspard’s official cause of death as drowning. The Los Angeles County Coroner also concluded that his death was accidental.

“39-year old male was swimming in the ocean on 5/17/2020 with multiple other individuals when lifeguards began assisting swimmers out of the ocean due to a rip current.

“Witnesses state a wave crashed over the decedent and he was not seen again. On 5/20/20 his body was located not far from where he was last seen alive,” the report said.

Speaking to People, Gaspard’s wife Siliana mentioned the influence the wrestler had on his son 10 year old son, Aryeh.

“Shad was a family man, an excellent father, and it shows in our son,” the 32-year-old said.

“Everyone has nothing but good things to say about him, and how well-behaved he is, how well-mannered he is, and they all give me credit.

“But the truth is, it took two of us, and Shad was a big part of that.”
