Veteran actor and comedian Jerry Stiller, famous for his role as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, has passed away aged 92.
The news of the the actor’s death was announced by his comedian superstar son, Ben.
“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you,” he wrote in a tweet.
Despite only joining Seinfeld in the show’s fifth season, Stiller made an unforgettable impression portraying George Costanza’s father.
After the end of Seinfeld’s 9 season run, Stiller snagged a role as Arthur Spoon in the highly successful comedy series King of Queens.
News of the actor’s death was greeted with grief by compatriots in the world of showbiz.
“Sending you love, Ben,” “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote. “What a giant. So grateful for him, and Anne, and you.”
“He was a lovely man – always so kind to me. Condolences Ben,” wrote actor Hank Azaria.
