After publicly stating his desire to become “one of the best trainers in the world”, Floyd Mayweather has got a ringing endorsement from none other than Mike Tyson, who believes that the retired fighter has what it takes to become an accomplished mentor because of his love for the gym.

After the death of his uncle and coach Roger, the self proclaimed Money Man stated his desire to help others realize their potential in the ring.

“This quarantine period has allowed me to see the importance of unity and helping others grow,” he wrote on an Instagram post on April 10. “I want to do my part on this Earth and allow people to see the potential in themselves so that they can share it with the world.

“I am new at training and so far I’ve been working with people with no boxing experience, therefore we are growing together. But I promise you, I will be one of the best trainers in the world. Inspire and be inspired.”

Speaking to TMZ, former heavyweight superstar Tyson said that he expected Mayweather to accomplish his goal because of his love for the gym.

“Mostly, the guy that’s the great trainer is not the great fighter and that’s why he becomes the great trainer. I give Floyd a good chance because Floyd’s a gym rat, that’s all he does.

“You see him in the club for one week but he’s in the gym every day for 25 years. Even when he goes out and party, he’s back in the gym the next day. He does it in his sleep, this is what he does,” Iron Mike said.

Mayweather, who retired undefeated, had announced last year he would come out of retirement in 2020, to work with UFC boss Dana White, and said he would rematch McGregor or fight Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov.
