Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton has been formally charged with felony theft over allegations that she removed thousands of dollars’ worth of furniture and a television from a furnished Atlanta condo.

Court documents reportedly show that the Fulton County District Attorney has filed one count of theft by taking against the reality television personality following her arrest in November 2025.

The charge involves property allegedly valued at more than $5,000 but less than $25,000.

Mia accused of removing furniture during late-night move

Prosecutors allege that Thornton and an associate, artist Jared McGriff, removed furniture and a wall-mounted television from the rented condo on 28 October 2025.

The property manager told police that the pair moved out unexpectedly in the middle of the night and allegedly took items that had been inside the furnished property before they moved in.

Invoices provided to investigators reportedly valued the missing furniture and television at approximately $11,000.

The latest court documents place the value within a broader range of at least $5,000 but less than $25,000.

Arrested at Atlanta airport

Thornton was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on 19 November 2025 after Customs and Border Protection officers identified her as the subject of an outstanding warrant.

Atlanta police took her into custody without incident before transporting her to the Fulton County Jail.

She waived her initial court appearance and was subsequently released on a $2,500 bond.

Police body-camera footage recorded Thornton telling officers that she wanted the furniture returned. She appeared to suggest that another person had possession of the storage-unit key and said she had sent several emails asking for the items to be put back.

Could face prison if convicted

Under Georgia law, theft involving property valued between $5,000 and $25,000 may be punished as a felony carrying between one and 10 years in prison.

However, a judge has discretion to impose punishment as a misdemeanour depending on the circumstances.

The filing of a criminal charge does not establish guilt. Prosecutors must prove the allegation beyond a reasonable doubt, and no conviction has been entered.

Thornton has not publicly announced a plea or issued a detailed response to the new felony charge.

Mia addressed ‘chaos’ after arrest

Days after her arrest, Thornton posted a message on social media about remaining grounded during difficult circumstances.

“This past week reminded me of the importance of staying grounded, especially when life feels loud,” she wrote while marking her birthday.

She said challenges would not define her and spoke about choosing peace, accountability and personal growth.

Thornton joined The Real Housewives of Potomac during its sixth season and remained a full-time cast member until the conclusion of Season 9.

She announced her departure from the Bravo series in April 2025 after relocating with her family to Atlanta.
