Former professional wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed that rather than a destructive force pulling them apart, the on-going quarantine had been a positive influence on his marriage.

In an Instagram video accompanied by a long captioned response, the wrestler turned actor revealed how the quarantine had not only positively impacted his relationship with his children, but had driven him closer to his wife as well. He was responding to a fan’s question about the difficulties of marriage at such a trying time.

Johnson got married to singer Lauren Hashian on the island of Kauai, the fourth largest island in Hawaii in September last year. Johnson and Hashian have two children, while the Jumanji star also has another child from an earlier marriage.

“Well, Dr. Johnson is here to help you, since I have a degree in experience certainly not my doctorate,” he said in the video responding to the fan.

“So here’s the thing I can share with you, I have found that the quarantine has had a very positive effect on my relationship and my marriage, certainly with my relationship with my daughters […] but it’s also had a really positive effect on my relationship with my wife.”

The star said although they sometimes found themselves at each other’s throats, the couple had found ways to compromise and make peace.

“We get snippy with each other, we argue… I gotta be honest with you, you know when this thing first started, I was really wobbly at times. I was trying to get my sh-t together and try to understand it because I was trying to think ten steps ahead, what does the future look like? What does the new normal look like when I go back… to work, school, my household. We’re all thinking about this, it’s a lot of pressure.”

Communication and understating were key ingredients needed to see through challenging times, Johnson said. “Now is the time to really try and do your best to communicate and articulate your feelings as best you can…Stay healthy and stay safe,” he said.
