St Louis rapper Sexyy Red could face a $5 million default judgment after Nicole Barnes, the grandmother of one of her children, accused her of sharing Barnes’s address and encouraging fans to attack her home.

Barnes alleges that the artist urged her roughly five million Instagram followers to “kick the door in” and commit acts of violence at the property. She claims the posts placed her in immediate danger and forced her to leave her home.

Barnes seeks judgment after alleged failure to respond

The lawsuit was filed in March 2025. Barnes now claims Sexyy Red has not responded to the case despite being formally served through a notice published in a newspaper.

That method was used after Barnes alleged that the rapper had avoided conventional attempts to deliver the legal documents.

Barnes has asked the court to enter a default judgment, a ruling that can be issued when a defendant fails to respond to a lawsuit. She is seeking $5 million in damages.

The judge has not yet ruled on the application, meaning no damages have been awarded.

Allegations remain unproven

Barnes’s accusations have not been tested or established at trial, and the requested default judgment does not amount to a finding that the allegations are true unless and until the court rules.

Sexyy Red, whose legal name is Janae Wherry, has two children: a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.

The case now rests with the judge, who must decide whether to grant Barnes’s motion and, if so, whether the requested $5 million award is justified.
