Former United States president Barack Obama announced on Sunday that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and says he is generally “feeling fine”.

“I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative,” he posted on Twitter.

“It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down,” Obama added.

Former first lady Michelle Obama tested negative, he confirmed.

The death toll in the US now stands at 965,000 lives lost and the national case total has also surpassed 79.4 million confirmed cases, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services.
