Former film producer and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein was secretly indicted on additional rape charges by a grand jury in Los Angeles that could add another 140 years to his prison sentence.

Fox News reports that, the indictment that came a week ago closely resembles a criminal complaint filed in January 2020 by former DA Jackie Lacey.

The indictment is likely to facilitate the extradition of the movie producer from New York where he is currently serving a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault.

The disgraced movie mogul faces 11 counts in California, including rape and sexual battery from five incidents that happened between 2002 and 2013.

The sealed indictment along with the warrant of arrest were to be made public on Monday afternoon following his extradition hearing in New York.

Neither did the L.A DA’s office nor Weinstein’s attorney comment on these reports.

The DA’s office is reportedly to have grown impatient with this case as it had been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The 69-year-old former producer has through his lawyer denied all charges against him. He was sentenced in March 2020 and is currently serving his sentence at the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, a maximum security prison.
