Kanye West concedes defeat in US election but vows to run in 2024
Not that many people took him seriously, but rapper Kanye West has conceded defeated in the US election after he received around 57,000 votes across 12 states he contested in. It does not end there, Mr West has assured his fans that he will be running again for president in 2024.
There was always suspicion Kanye was a decoy meant to siphon African American votes from Joe Biden in an effort to help President Donald Trump, a personal friend of the eccentric rapper.
West shared a photo of himself silhouetted against the US electoral map on social media, with the message: “Welp Kanye 2024.” “Welp” is an informal way of saying “oh well” and signifies disappointment. He cast his vote in Cody, Wyoming, tweeting:
“God is so good Smiling face with smiling eyes Today I am voting for the first time in my life for the President of the United States, and it’s for someone I truly trust…me.”
Not many saw the merit in Kanye’s run for the White House with celebrities like Jennifer Aniston boldly declaring “it’s not funny to vote for Kanye” and she urged voters to “be responsible”.
Kanye is reported to have spent a staggering $12m (£9.2m) of his own money to fund his campaign, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission.
