Cardi B has responded publicly to Latto’s latest comments about their long-running fallout, saying she understands why the rapper felt hurt and insisting she made several attempts to repair the relationship after a leaked call sparked controversy.

The Grammy-winning artist addressed the issue in a lengthy social media statement after Latto revealed during an interview on The Breakfast Club that lyrics on her new album Big Mama were inspired by the dispute.

In her response, Cardi said she never intended to disrespect Latto and acknowledged that the leaked conversation had caused real damage between them.

“I truly understand how you feel,” Cardi wrote, explaining that the remarks were made during a heated discussion and did not reflect what she meant to say. She added that she chose to apologize publicly because the disagreement had become a public matter.

Cardi also revealed that she had made multiple efforts throughout 2025 and 2026 to reconnect with Latto, including contacting her directly and reaching out through her manager and sister.

The rapper said she was dealing with significant personal pressures at the time, including her pregnancy and the demands surrounding her long-awaited sophomore album.

While stressing that those circumstances were not an excuse, Cardi said they contributed to her emotional state during the incident.

Her statement came after Latto confirmed that comments on Big Mama were directed at Cardi.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Latto said the fallout stemmed from a leaked audio recording in which Cardi was discussing issues involving Ice Spice.

Although the conversation primarily focused on another dispute, Latto’s name surfaced and quickly became a topic of discussion online.

Latto explained that she was in the early stages of pregnancy when the leak emerged. She had recently recorded a verse for Cardi’s “Errtime (Remix)” and was shocked to see the comments circulating publicly just days later.

The Atlanta rapper said the situation felt especially personal because she viewed Cardi as a friend rather than simply an industry colleague.

According to Latto, they communicated privately and had each other’s phone numbers, leading her to believe the matter could have been addressed behind the scenes.

Although Cardi eventually reached out around two months later, Latto said she did not respond. She also revealed that the pair have not spoken since.

Despite Cardi’s efforts to make peace, the two artists appear to remain estranged, with both now publicly sharing their perspectives on a disagreement that began with a leaked call and evolved into a highly publicized rift.
