Lady Gaga has paid tribute to protesters after the announcement that four other officers involved in the incident that led to the death of George Floyd were also being charged.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Gaga said she hoped that the officers that had been charged would face the full might of the law.

“I hope that all cops who have engaged in or are engaging in any racist activity are met with the highest form of law & order,’ she wrote before adding, ‘although we know the law & order in this country is predicated upon racism and is itself corrupt.”

She went on to acknowledge the struggles of African Americans whose voices were usually gagged.

“I applaud the brave citizens of this nation that are speaking up, and I support the unsupported voices of the black community,” her statement read.

As part of her statement, Lady Gaga cast light on Black Lives Matter and Loveland Foundation, two organizations she has donated to in support of the ongoing fight for racial and social justice

“I encourage you to learn about the important work they do and how you can get involved. Black Lives Matter,” she said.
