While in the midst of crippling financial problems, Mike Tyson was forced to pawn off his Ohio mansion, a £890,000 monster that has since been changed into a church.

The self proclaimed “Baddest Man” on the planet was also once one of the world’s most valuable sports personalities, amassing wealth as fast as he knocked down challengers in the boxing ring.

During his prime, the American boxer earned a reported $430 million in endorsements, approximately around $700 million after altering for inflation.

Tyson, however, suffered serious financial issues after being convicted and filed for bankruptcy in 2003. Tyson was $23 million in debt at that point.

He had already sold his mansion four years prior to that and when it was bought by The Living Word Sanctuary Church, it already lay in half-ruin.

Living Word Pastor Nicholas DeJacimo told the Warren Tribune-Chronicle: “The property had been untouched for 10 years. “You had so much grass you could have sold it for hay.”

The former pugilist’s dream home has now been stripped of its excesses of old as it is turned into a respectable place of worship.

The once glorious swimming pool has been transformed into a sanctuary while the living room is now a gathering place.

The old fireplace has since been turned into an indoor waterfall while the four-bay garage now houses classrooms and a nursery.

The steel cages where Tyson once kept his ferocious tigers have been turned into a pavilion. Where once stood a four bay garage now stands classrooms and a nursery.

In the past, Tyson has spoken of the irresponsible extravagance of his prime years were he was the toast of the boxing world. As of 2020, the Mike Tyson net worth stands at $3 million according to Celebrity Net Worth.
