What was meant to be a good natured post on Instagram instead drew widespread concern and alarm as fans of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman expressed shock at the Hollywood star’s dramatic weight loss.
Boseman had posted the video to acknowledge the philanthropic work of Thomas Tull, the billionaire film producer and part owner of baseball franchise Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tull donated $4.2 million to hospitals, with the number specifically chosen in honor of baseball legend Jackie Robinson’s famous jersey number, 42.
The donation came on the anniversary of the day Robinson made his MLB debut.
Instead of generating goodwill, the video instead triggered a lot of social media chatter about Boseman’s health.
“You ok chief? You looked rather odd on the other post,” commented a fan after the video was posted.
According to Showbiz speculation, Boseman might have lost weight for an upcoming movie Da 5 Bloods, Spike Lee’s latest project.
The film follows four African American Vietnam veterans who return to Vietnam in search of the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure.
