A law firm representing Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly seeking to withdraw from another civil lawsuit, alleging that the incarcerated music mogul has not paid his legal bills for more than seven months.

Sher Tremonte LLP filed a request on Thursday to stop representing Combs in a sexual assault lawsuit brought by Thalia Graves, according to AllHipHop.

Michael Tremonte, a partner at the firm, reportedly asked the court for permission to retain Combs’ legal files until the outstanding balance is paid.

The filing did not disclose how much money Combs allegedly owes. However, the firm claimed his last payment covered fees and expenses incurred in late 2025, leaving a “substantial portion” of the outstanding invoices more than 90 days overdue.

Firm alleges breakdown in communication

Sher Tremonte also alleged that its working relationship with Combs has deteriorated.

“In addition to Mr Combs’s refusal to pay in accordance with the express terms of his agreement to do so, there has been a total breakdown in cooperation and communication between Mr Combs and the firm,” the filing reportedly states.

The lawyers claimed Combs had not made himself available for timely and substantive discussions about his cases for more than four months.

The firm argued that its departure would not cause significant delays because the Graves lawsuit is currently stayed while an appeal that could result in its dismissal remains pending.

What Thalia Graves alleges

Graves sued Combs and his former head of security, Joseph Sherman, in September 2024.

She alleged that the two men drugged and sexually assaulted her at a New York recording studio in 2001 before recording the alleged attack.

Combs and Sherman have denied the allegations, which have not been established in court.

Firm has sought to leave other Diddy cases

The Graves lawsuit is reportedly not the only Diddy-related case Sher Tremonte wants to leave.

The firm has also sought to withdraw from litigation involving producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones and a separate legal dispute connected to the documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.

It previously asked to stop representing Combs in his defamation lawsuit against Courtney Burgess, attorney Ariel Mitchell and Nexstar Media, alleging that he had failed to pay substantial legal fees and had become uncooperative.

Diddy disputes law firm’s account

Combs has characterised the conflict as a business disagreement over legal bills.

“I made the decision to switch lawyers because I won’t let anyone take advantage of me by overcharging me and running up bills that were never approved,” he previously said through a representative.

“This is strictly a business matter, and any talk about unpaid fees is just part of our dispute over those unapproved charges.”

Tremonte rejected the overcharging allegation, maintaining that the firm had represented Combs efficiently and was withdrawing because of overdue invoices and a breakdown in cooperation.

A judge must approve the firm’s request before its lawyers can formally withdraw from the Graves case.
