Quavo has offered a divine explanation for taking back the Bentley he gave Saweetie during their relationship, claiming God told him to reclaim it.
The former Migos rapper addressed the long-running controversy during a conversation with Yung Miami, who asked why he repossessed the customised luxury car after the couple separated.
According to Quavo, the instruction came from above: God told him to take it back.
His admission appears to settle years of speculation surrounding the vehicle, although it also contradicts the position taken by his representatives shortly after the breakup.
Quavo gave Saweetie customised Bentley
Quavo surprised Saweetie with the white Bentley Continental GT as a Christmas present in December 2020.
The vehicle was heavily customised to match Saweetie’s “Icy” public image, featuring snowflake details and the word “Icy” embroidered into its headrests.
Videos of the extravagant surprise circulated widely on social media, making the car one of the most memorable celebrity gifts of the year.
However, the couple’s relationship ended just three months later.
Saweetie announced their split in March 2021 and suggested that Quavo had been unfaithful.
“I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” she wrote at the time.
She added that expensive presents could not repair emotional damage, writing: “Presents don’t band aid scars.”
Quavo responded by saying he was disappointed that Saweetie had shared a version of their relationship that he believed was inaccurate.
His camp initially denied repossession story
Rumours soon emerged that Quavo had repossessed the Bentley following their breakup.
Sources described as being close to the rapper denied the claim in 2021, insisting that he had not sent anyone to recover the vehicle.
However, Quavo appeared to reference taking back the car in the Migos song “Having Our Way”, released later that year.
He rapped about taking back a Bentley, fuelling speculation that the earlier denial had been misleading.
His latest remarks to Yung Miami represent his clearest public confirmation that he reclaimed the vehicle.
Saweetie replaced Bentley with Rolls-Royce
Yung Miami previously questioned Saweetie about the Bentley during a 2022 episode of Caresha Please.
“How you feel when he took your car back?” she asked.
Saweetie laughed off the question and explained that she responded by purchasing another luxury vehicle for herself.
“I had to go get me a little Rolls-Royce,” she said.
Although she appeared unconcerned about losing the Bentley, Saweetie admitted that the end of the relationship had been painful.
She said she had believed she and Quavo would spend their lives together and described their time as a couple as involving significant “growing pains”.
Saweetie declined to answer directly when Yung Miami asked whether Quavo had cheated on her.
More than five years after the breakup, both former partners have now discussed the famous Bentley with the same interviewer: Saweetie said she replaced it, while Quavo maintains that taking it back was God’s idea.
