Hollywood stars mourn ‘The Wire’ star Michael K Williams after his death at 54

Tributes have been paid to US actor Michael K Williams, best known for starring in HBO drama series The Wire, following his death at the age of 54.

Various Hollywood stars have mourned the death of the five-time Emmy nominated actor.

Film director James Gunn took to his twitter handle saying Williams was one of the most ‘talented actors around and had was one of the sweetest, kindest, and most gentle soul’

“Michael K. Williams, in addition to being one of the most talented actors around, was also one of the kindest, sweetest, most gentle souls I’ve ever met. This is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with all those who loved him,” wrote James.

Another director, Spike Lee paid his tribute to Williams through an Instagram post sharing a photo of the late actor and wrote, “Whew Lawd, Dis Is A tough Day 1-st We lose The greatest French Actor Jean Paul Belmondo and now my Brother Michael K. Williams.

“Our brother passed away today in his home, Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn. I’m shook. Drinking a bottle of Italian Red Wine Brunello Di Montalcino By my self. Our greats are leaving us left and right. GOD BLESS.”

William’s co-star Wendell Pierce who acted with him in the film ‘The Wire’ expressed grief of the Michael’s death through a Twitter thread.

He wrote, “The depth of my love for this brother can only be matched by the depth of my pain learning of his loss.

“An immensely talented man with the ability to give voice to the human condition portraying the lives of those humanity is seldom elevated until he sings their truth.”

According to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ, Williams was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment on Monday after a relative hadn’t heard from him in a couple of days and went to check on him.
