Taylor Swift criticises Netflix show for ‘deeply’ sexist joke about her

Taylor Swift has accused Netflix show ‘Ginny and Georgia’ of “degrading” women by featuring a joke about her which she branded “deeply sexist”.

In the tenth episode of the first season of the new series a female character is heard telling another woman that, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.’

The line sparked a twitter trend with the hashtag ‘respect Taylor Swift’.

The Grammy award winning singer then took to twitter saying, “hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and its lazy, deeply sexist joke back.

“How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as FuNnY. Also @Netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you. Happy Women’s History Month I guess.”

John Meyer who is Taylor’s ex, seemingly responded to Swift in a Tik Tok video and this got Swift’s fans furious and they ganged up against him and flooded his comments section.

“She is done with the misogyny and the slut shaming. I’m so proud of her for standing up for herself and leaving no words unspoken.

“Still cannot this still happening after years, YEARS of it before… RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT,” tweeted Swift’s follower.

This is not the first time Swift has been slut shamed, she also attacked ‘Degrassi: Next Class’ as the show featured a scene in which a character said, “Taylor Swift made an entire career off of her exes.”
