Nicki Minaj has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child, only months after marrying childhood friend Kenneth Petty.
Nicki announced the big news on Instagram, sharing a typically colourful picture of herself with a telling baby bump.
“#Preggers” she captioned one pic, while in another she shared the joys of pregnancy and possible motherhood.
“Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”
The rapper, who is believed to have married Petty in October last year, has also recently spoken about the joys of marriage and love.
“I didn’t think it would be as refreshing and calming as it is,” Minaj has said.
“Even if you’re not married, when you have someone that feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, it just makes you feel like you’re on top of the world.”
Minaj, one of the most successful hip-hop stars of her generation, last year said she was retiring to concentrate on building a family. That retirement seems to have been short lived, as she has gone on to enjoy chart success in 2020.
Having never scored a No 1 hit in the US before, Minaj has topped the US charts twice this year, first in May with her remix to Doja Cat’s single Say So, and then in June with Trollz, her track with 6ix9ine.
