Taylor Swift urged her 87,4 million twitter followers to go to the polls in November if they want to see a leadership that will prioritize racial equality and put an end to police brutality.

On Tuesday, the pop star tweeted, “Racial injustice has been ingrained deeply into local and state governments, and changes MUST be made there.

“In order for policies to change, we need to elect people who will fight against police brutality and racism of any kind. #BlackLivesMatter.”

She also shared an article on medium by former President Barack Obama, praising it as “fascinating read about changing policy at the state and local levels.”

In the article, titled “How to Make this Moment the Turning Point for Real Change,” and published on Medium, Obama writes that it’s ultimately up to a “new generation of activists” to keep the momentum going following the nationwide protests held in response to the death of George Floyd.

Swift also voiced her support for mail in voting, something that US President Donald Trump has been vehemently against.

“We need to fight for mail-in voting for the 2020 election. No one should have to choose between their health and having their voice heard,’ she wrote, along with a link to voting resources.”

It’s not the first time the formerly apolitical pop star has addressed the national situation after the racist killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, David McAtee, Nina Pop, and countless others.

On May 29, she tweeted at Donald Trump after he threatened what appeared to be extra judicial shootings if looting continued, making her displeasure at the Republican president’s actions clear. “We will vote you out in November,” Swift wrote.
