A woman who alleged that she was brutally assaulted by former LA Lakers player Darius Morris has walked back on her claim, saying she did not want the former NBA player prosecuted.

Morris, now playing pro basketball in France before the intervention of Covid-19, is said to have assaulted the woman in Manhattan in April.

While the relationship between the two is unclear, a spokesperson for the NYPD told TMZ that the woman had reported the matter on April 18.

According to officers, the 34 year old woman had told Morris, the Lakers’ second round draft pick of 2011, that she should be gone from her apartment when she returned later.

To her surprise she had found him still there, and left her battered after he “grabbed her by her hair and dragged her, punching and kicking her in the head repeatedly.”

The woman sustained bruising and swelling on her eyes, forehead, and ear while she also suffered a chipped tooth and bruises on her arms and back.

Morris was then arrested, booked on charges of strangulation and assault. He was again arrested on April 30 after he reportedly violated an order of protection.

However, the victim told TMZ that she had made the whole story up and did not want to see Morris prosecuted. She also said should would be withdrawing the charges leveled against him.
