Janice Combs, mother of embattled rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has broken her silence on the allegations against him, saying that her son was not the monster that the world is painting him out to be.
The musician was arrested on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering last month. He is currently being held in a Manhattan detention centre after being denied bail.
Janice released a statement Sunday through her attorney, Natalie G. Figgers, and on behalf of the Combs family, saying that while her son is not perfect and has “made mistakes in the past, as we all have,” he is not guilty of the allegations against him.
“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she said in the statement, which was shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
“To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words.

“Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”
Diddy has faced a number of cases since last year, when his former partner Cassie Ventura accused him of rape and abuse.
The rapper denied the allegations, and the case was settled out of court a day after being filed.
However, he was subsequently sued by 12 other women, many of whom accused the rapper of drugging and assaulting them. In her statement, the rapper’s mother said the line between truth and lies had become blurred as the case unfolded.
“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise,” she said.
“Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.
“This is why I believe my son’s civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.”
