Rapper Drake has removed his controversial diss song, Taylor Made, from streaming platforms after the estate of legendary musician and actor, Tupac Shakur, threatened to sue the Canadian.
Drake recently released the song, which features, AI-generated voices of Tupac and fellow West Coast rapper, Snoop Dogg, as a diss towards Kendrick Lamar.
This was after Lamar seemed to take aim at Drake on the song chart-topping, Like That.
In a letter, the estate of the slain hip-hop legend stated that it was “deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality in the ‘Taylor Made (Freestyle)’ record.”
The letter continues, “We demand that you immediately cease and desist from any further publication and exploitation of the Record and that you immediately take ALL NECESSARY steps to remove it from all platforms where it is publicly available.”
Tupacโs estate also made it clear that it took offense that the diss was aimed at Lamar, with who it enjoys cordial relations.
โThe unauthorized, equally dismaying use of Tupacโs voice against Kendrick Lamar, a good friend to the Estate who has given nothing but respect to Tupac and his legacy publicly and privately, compounds the insult,โ the letter read.
Itโs unclear if Snoop Dogg, whose voice was also featured on โTaylor Made,โ is planning to raise similar legal objections to Drakeโs track.
On Saturday, he posted a video to social media in which he seemed to be learning of the song for the first time: โThey did what? When? How? Are you sure?โ
A rep for Snoop Dogg did not return a request for comment.
