Rapper Snoop Dogg is lobbying President Donald Trump to pardon convicted Death Row records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris who was imprisoned over 30 years ago on drug trafficking and attempted murder charges.

The hip hop legend has been working closely with a couple of activists connected to the White House, lobbying for the release of Harry-O before Trump becomes a civilian again.

Snoop and his crew’s aim is to have the sentence of Harry-O commuted after he has spent more than three decades behind bars.

Harris was arrested in 1988 for attempted murder, kidnapping and drug trafficking; he is being held at a Federal Correctional Facility in Lompoc, California. During his time in prison, Harris has been reformed into an activist campaigning for reforms in prisons and better conditions.

His prison term is expected to end in late 2028. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, Harris and his legal team have been pushing for an early compassionate release but their request has been denied.

Now in the dying minutes of Trump’s Presidency, Snoop together with other advocates, claim Harris is now a reformed man deserving of being pardoned and are hoping that Trump’s administration will do them good and grant his release.

“The president knows about it. I’ve spoken with Ivanka [Trump] and I’ve been told with Jared [Kushner], and I’ve been told President Trump is aware of the case and has been reviewing it,” said Alice Johnson, a criminal justice reform advocate after President Trump pardoned her life sentence two and a half years ago.

“The president knows how much this case means to me. In reviewing Michael Harris’ case, his story, and what he’s gone through, this is such an unfair case.

“He should have been home a decade ago. I really felt for this man. I am very hopeful that he will be home before the end of the Trump administration,” she said.

Snoop’s push might come with some disadvantages considering that about two years ago he clashed with Trump over a music video where Snoop shoots a clown resembling Trump with a fake gun.

Harris is known for his help in creating and financing Death Row Records. The record company was a stepping stone for most Hip Hop legends including, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur and Dr Dre.
