Rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black are among those granted clemency by President Donald Trump on his final day in office, the White House announced on Wednesday morning.

Lil Wayne and Kodak Black who were prosecuted on federal weapons offenses, were among the 140 people who were granted pardons by Trump as he exercised his last powers as President.

Lil Wayne had not been sentenced after pleading guilty in December to carrying a loaded firearm onto a private jet while traveling to Florida.

The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was facing up to 10 years jail time after he was prohibited from owning a gun due to a past felony conviction.

The Washington Post confirmed that Trump had considered Wayne for a pardon after the rapper expressed his support for Trump just days before the November 2020 election.

Kodak Black, who changed his legal name from Dieuson Octave to Bill Kapri was sentenced in November 2019 to nearly four years in prison after pleading guilty to weapons charges stemming from his arrest at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in May 2019.

Other charges against the 23-year-old rappers involved kidnapping, drug possession and sexual assault, with some still pending.

In April 2019 it was reported that he had been charged with first-degree criminal and sexual conduct allegedly assaulting a high school student after a 2016 concert in Florence, S.C., and that he faced a maximum sentence of 30 years.

In the entertainment industry, Death Row Records Co-founder Michael ‘Harry-O’ Harris was also pardoned by Trump after spending over 30-years in prison on charges of drug trafficking, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Harris’ pardon comes after legendary rapper Snoop Dogg lobbied Trump to grant him clemency for he was now a transformed man who now advocated for reforms in prison.
